Paul Hartley, CEO
Paul has worked in the printing and publishing industry for 16 years. Over the course of the last 6 years, he was instrumental in building and growing the infrastructure for one of the world's foremost suppliers to the STM pulishing market. He pioneered many advances that improved the way service is provided to publishers. His firm belief that excellent service and high quality is the most aeffective way to generate business helped him successfully transition an 80,000-page/year typesetting business to over 800,000 pages in five years. From a customer base of 3 to 23 and from 80 journal titles to over 600, Paul built a team that included over 25 developers, all typesetting and electronic data preparation experts, whose skills included DTD, TeX/LaTeX, graphics and color space technologies, web-based delivery and tracking systems, and mastering advances in layout technology to keep pace with the ever-increasing complexity of customer requirements.

“Our job, is to help make our customer profitable and competitive — in effect — to help our customers grow.”
Everett "Chip" Achorn II, Vice-President
Chip started working for Achorn Graphic Services, Inc., in 1978, shortly after his father established the company. Since then, he has led the transformation of the traditional composition house into a full-service digital operation. In 1980, he initiated the computerization of Achorn's priority system, a first step in the company's ongoing drive to incorporate advanced equipment and technologies. Ten years later, he installed the Miles typesetting system, inaugurating Achorn's entry into the electronic typesetting era. Chip assumed general management of Achorn in 1984 and brought to his enlarged role deep experience in all aspects of the typesetting industry.
He managed operations and sales and was instrumental in shaping customer relations philosophy with his distinctly personal approach to service. These qualities led to his nomination for Massachusetts Small Business Man of the Year in 1991. He sold Achorn Graphics to Crossroads Media in December 1997 and managed the company for the new owners until August 2002 when Achorn was sold to SPI Technologies. Chip managed the Worcester office (formerly Achorn) until January 2005 and then was made senior sales executive until July 2006.
All Achorn employees have intensive publishing experience and, currently, most of our projects are books — together, these imbued us, all the employees of Achorn, a sense of flexibility, quick thinking, and dedication to our craft and, ultimately, give all our clients quality service on time.
